PASSPORT MATTERS

Apointment

To All Passport Applicants

With immediate effect, you should secure an appointment before coming to the Consulate.

Anyone with appointment must be at the Consulate latest at 11am. After this time, no one will be allowed access into the Consulate, even with a valid appointment. Please be informed and note for strict compliance to the immigration service Section policy.

 

PASSPORT OPENING HOURS:

Submission of application shall be on Mondays and Wednesdays, except on public holidays.

Time: 14:00 - 16:00 hours.

 

Collection of processed passport;

Mondays and Wednesdays from 13:00 hours. It shall be for 4 weeks after capturing.

The application fee is payable in the course of the application online through the “INNOVATE 1”. Payment is with credit card and the payment currency is US Dollar (US$).

General Procedures for Passport Application

Application Procedure

Enter into the NIS portal by typing or copy this link to your browser: https://portal.immigration.gov.ng/, then select ePassport.

Select the type of Passport (in most cases: -Standard ePassport- if you are not a government official)

Select -Germany- as the country where your passport application will be processed.

Login through a google or yahoo email account or use Open ID to create your users account with innovate 1.

Fill in your data on the online application form and click “Submit Application, at the bottom of the page.

The page of your Application ID and Reference Number will show.

Print: Click on “Print and Continue, at the bottom of the page and print out the acknowledgment slip and be sure to check carefully through the details you gave when filling in the form.

Payment: Your application is now completed and you will now proceed to the next step, which is “PAYMENT” To enter this procedure, click on ”Continue Applicationat the bottom of the page.

Click on ”Proceed To Checkoutat the bottom of the page.

The invoice for your application will show. If you want to submit more than one application, click on “Start Another Application”. Otherwise, click on ”Proceed To Payment.

Follow the online payment procedure for the passport fee and make your payment. (the online payment is in US Dollar and it is done through the SW Global LLC online payment system).

 Print out the NIS e-Receipt.

How to print your NIS e-Receipt

  • On the NIS portal home page (https://portal.immigration.gov.ng/), click on “Application payment status” link.
  • At the next page, select “Passport” from the drop-down.
  • Enter the following details:
    • Application ID
    • Reference Number
  • Submit the details.
  • Your full application details shall be returned.
  • Scroll down the page and click on “Print receipt”.
  • You will be presented with your NIS e-receipt in a new window.
  • Click on “Print this receipt”.

  3. Two passport photography of applicant
  4. Local government letter of Identification (Certificate of Origin)
  5. Guarantor form duly signed by Commissioner of Oaths
  6. Photocopy of Data page of guarantor’s valid ePassport
  7. One passport photography of guarantor passport
  8. Photocopy of National identity card or driver’s license of guarantor
  9. Birth Certificate or Declaration of Age of applicant

  2. Online payment and acknowledgement slip
  3. Two passport photograph
  4. Guarantor form duly signed
  5. Photocopy of Data page of guarantor’s valid passport
  6. One passport photography of guarantor passport
  7. Come with the original expired passport

RE-ISSUE

Additional Requirement for Asylum Seekers without Passport

  1. Local government letter of Identification (Certificate of Origin)

Additional Requirements for non-residents

i.e. those who are not officially residing in Germany

A letter of introduction from the Nigerian Embassy in your country of residence. If there is no Embassy of Nigeria in that country, you are requested to get the letter from the Nigeria Embassy covering your country of residence (for example: The Nigerian Embassy in Sweden currently covers most of the Scandinavian countries).

  5. Guarantor form duly signed by Commissioner of Oaths

  7. One passport photography of guarantor passport
  8. Original Birth Certificate of applicant
  9. Data page for father and mother (Travelling Passport)
  10. Parents’ letter of consent for minors under 16 yrs.
 

PASSPORT GUARANTOR FORM

How to obtain the Guarantor Form:

All passport applicants must download the passport guarantor form from the following link https://portal.immigration.gov.ng/passport/PassportGuarantor 

Now you are requested to fill in your Passport Application ID and Passport Reference No. to obtain the guarantor form.

Print the two pages.

Your guarantor is requested to kindly fill in the form and to complete the document by please adding his/her signature and the date as requested

Attach a passport photograph of the guarantor in the provided column on page 1.

Attach a copy of the data page of the guarantor’s Nigerian passport to the duly completed and signed guarantor form.

CHANGE OF DATA IN PASSPORT DUE TO MARRIAGE/DIVORCE OR DEATH

  1. Formal application from the applicant
  2. Marriage certificate or any other valid document legally acceptable in Germany (written or translated in English)
  3. Statutory evidence of change of name due to marital status
  4. Newspaper publication of change of name, if required by law in Germany
  5. Evidence of Maiden Name
  6. Proof of spouse identity, such as spouse passport data page, etc
  7. Current passport booklet and copy of data page of applicant
  8. Divorce certificate or any other document legally acceptable in Germany for divorcee only
  9. Certificate of death of spouse or any other valid document acceptable in Germany (for widows only)
